neem soap is fundamentally different from conventional scented soaps that you are used to. Unlike rose or lavender soaps, where aromatic oils are simply added to the main soap, neem soap is a purely natural soap. Conventional soaps are often based on an odorless soap base or glycerine soap, which is made from animal fat, caustic soda, salt and water. Glycerin soaps are light and usually transparent, while the basic soap is refined with additives such as nourishing fats, scented oils and colorants.

While many commercially available soaps primarily serve to cleanse, this often happens at the expense of the skin. Frequent washing with conventional soap can impair the skin's acid mantle and remove its essential fats.

neem soap on the other hand, is made from pure neem oil and coconut oil, with neem oil traditionally being the main ingredient. In India, over 80% of neem oil production is used for soap making, which shows how highly valued this soap is. Neem soap uses the many benefits of neem oil and is not only antibacterial and antifungal, but above all extremely skin-care. It soothes the skin and provides it with intensive moisture, completely different to conventional soaps.

In addition, neem soap used in the Ayurvedic tradition for various skin problems. In India it is considered an insider tip for acne, and many teenagers use it to noticeably improve their skin. Women value it as a fountain of youth, as the moisturizing properties of neem soap are said to help reduce wrinkles. Many Indians use neem soap for itchy scalps, and it is also the remedy of choice for unpleasant little pests.

Neem soap is even used in India for more serious skin problems, although this is not recommended without reservation. The worsening of some skin conditions is often due to unsuitable additives that have no place in a traditional neem soap. Therefore, the fewer ingredients, the better the quality of the soap. Ideally, the neem oil should be cold-pressed and the soap should be made using the cold process.

Our neem soap from Nimi represents the highest quality. It is produced using the cold process and contains only neem oil, coconut oil, water and just a small amount of sodium hydroxide. The latter is necessary for the saponification process and does not pose any risk once it has been processed into soap with the oils.

The production begins with a solution of distilled water and sodium hydroxide. After cooling, this lye is combined with the high proportion of neem oil and coconut oil.
