Chili ground by Classic AyurvedaAccording to Ayurvedic teachings, chili has a heating, spicy effect and is dry, light and sharp. Chili increases the Pitta Dosha and should therefore be avoided by Pitta types and also in summer when temperatures are very warm.
Vata, on the other hand, can be reduced with a small amount of chili. However, higher amounts of chili increase Vata and unbalance Vata constitutions. For Kapha types, chili is an ideal spice.
